I am interested in creating a theme based on the 'IPB Pro' theme for IPB 2.3.X, however I am wondering simply if they (IPS) would allow me to create a theme based on it or if I should even bother contacting them?

I just want your opinions, as I don't see it as a huge deal and the images will be custom made.

Yes, you would have to contact them and see if you can gain permission. I doubt they will give you permission though, worth a try.

Ya but as long as its custom and not coppied. My smf board is based off ipb. The guy made his own images so it's not copied. So his theme which I use is similar but since its not directly copied it's ok.
