after numerous failed attempts to upgrade from 1.2 to 1.4 i would like to know how to take my 1.2 board DB and get it into a clean install of 1.4.

Why can't you upgrade, what problems are you having?
You'll still need to run the upgrade script on it, whether you install 1.4 itself first or not.
As JonP said, what problems did you have??
2 things.
1. on first attempt i get the messge per this thread

2. because there are 68 entries in the 1.4 database i can't import th 1.2 database into a new install (unless of course i'm missing something.)
a new install would be fine as i want to redo the forum skin etc but i need the database from the old install.
i'm moving to a new host so trying to get things in place for when my old host account ends in june.

went back to scratch and uploaded my 1.2 and the DB then all the upload files for 1.4 and ran the upgrade but still getting the same error.
