Is there anything wrong with Instant Activation? This seems to be better since they could start posting immediately.
You never know if that user is a spammer and can post tons of spam in minutes, that's why i use email activation.
Email validation usually. It prevents the use of fake emails for the sake of spamming, too.
I use to be on a vBulletin board a super mod and the admin had his set to instant activation and we got spammers frequently, and they spammed every thread.
What does the fact that it's vBulletin have to do with anything
