If you add the adsense code in the 'showthread' template, then it will only appear once in the thread at the top or bottom of the posts (but you won't be able to get it in between the first and second posts).

Well why can't an inline adsense code be added?
There's a plugin for this somewhere. Search around.
My only beef is that it only appears on the first page of a thread.

The simplest way is to download and activate that plugin and place the adsense code in the setting.
