i've seen wpmu + mybb. (still. i dont know how they did it...)
now they have buddypres.org which seem very promising for building social network.

i tried it on http://gobloglah.com

now, i'm thinking about integrating this with my existing (ipb2.3.6 forum which will be converted to) mybb forum with existing userbase.

well... i'm no programmer. so, how hard it is? any plugin/mods?

The bridge for wordpress MU should work with a few changes. This is assuming buddypress didn't make many changes to the database structure(mainly user table).

This however will probably be a paid job as I'm not sure if there is an up to day integrator for wordpress(or wpmu) that you could use as a base.
