I'd like to be able set my board up so that the number of posts or user title level also gives the person access to different forums on the site. So the more posts a user has, the more sections he or she can visit.

I know it can be done manually by group ranking, but is it possible to set something like this up so it automatically occurs when the user reaches a certain member rank or set level of posts?

There's a plugin on www.mybbcentral.com and www.mybbsource.com that allows this; you can set a post limit for a forum and when they reach that limit, they'll get access to it.
