I noticed that the wiki page on MyBB is powered by MediaWiki but I am curious as to how the MyBB team createdit so that the page's frame was still the MyBB template. Normally you would use MediaWiki's wiki template but as you can see on MyBB's wiki page, they are using MyBB's template and then in the main content page, they have the articles that only registered users can edit.

That will help intergrate the MyBB user table with the wiki.

You can still theme media wiki like pretty much any other software. Unfortunatley it is a pain to theme for (trust me i have done it) and pre made themes are few and far between. From memory a guy called Paul Gu has made a few, google search him.
