There's a setting for the maximum username length but to have only alphanumeric names needs a code modification, fairly sure it's been answered on MyBB Central.
Matt where exactly can I set the maximum username length and what will happen to the existing user with a username that will exceed to the length of the username that I will set?
If you use the settings search feature, you should be able to find it. I imagine current users will be unaffected by the setting, just new users trying to register.
