Announcements set up in forums do not count towards the board statistics in any way.
This is an issue with the amount of threads in the stats and the actual ones in the forum being out of synchronisation for some reason and there will be tools included with RC4 to correct this per forum, and for the whole board in the Administration Control Panel.
