The CAPTCHA image on my forums registration page does not show up when a user tried to register. The server times out.

This is an upgraded version of MyBB from 1.4.1 to 1.4.6.
PHP version 5.2.5

I had been using this feature in 1.4.1 successfully but did have to apply a fix to the code found here on these forums.

I did search here for CAPTCHA but the results I found were not helpful.

Any help would be appreciated.

Reupload your language files, make a note of any changes you've made to them though first.

Reupload my language files from the 1.4.1 installation? Or from a fresh source code? Can you be more specific?

Yes, fresh ones...

OK, I have replaced the inc/languages directory with the files from a clean 1.4.6 install.
The problem is still there, the CAPTCHA image is not present.

Try re-uploading ./captcha.php and ./inc/captcha_fonts.

Done.
Problem is still there. Is there something else I could try? Or more info that I could provide?

This problem is still unresolved.

Workaround:
I poked around the forums and found the reCaptchaII plugin here: http://mods.mybboard.net/view/recaptcha-ii

I am now using this rather than the default captcha that comes with mybb.
