Using:
Webserver: IIS7
php: 5.2.9-2
mysql: MySQLi 5.0.83
firefox: Firefox/3.0.11 (OSX)
mybb: 1.4.7

When you make a forum and use the tic boxes say you untic like can post and then add the forum it does not save that permission. i had a simerler issue in an old version it was fix by adding $value = '' or some thing. and when editing them it tacks so many gos for it to save.

Is your provider running mod_security?

I do not think so.

I just went to add a new forum, and found that the permissions don't save for any forum either. :s

It is only happening on new forums/categories I add. Old forums are fine.

Your host seems to have updated to mod_security. Contact them.

Or maybe the Write Settings.

Forum settings aren't written to settings.php...

I just worked out what was causing this on my forums. "Use Group Default" was checked for all users, so when I saved, it just used the default permissions.
