How in the world do I prevent that ? how do you prevent google from crawling to your staff section ? if you place meta tag in the headerinclude or header itself then you are done , cuz all the pages will be indexed in google . so any bright ideas how to get rig of it ?
Google only indexes pages it can actually see, no?? So if it's finding them, they must be visible somehow...
or even better question, I noticed all those were archive www.myurl.com/archive/whatever-thread so how can I prevet this from happening ?
The exact same thing, make sure the forums are invisible. If they're showing when they shouldn't be, the permissions are probably wrong.
the permissions are set correctly . but for some reason they show up on google
are there any permissions for archive?
If the permissions are set correctly, the forums won't show in archive. It sounds like the permissions aren't right.
The archive uses the same permissions as the normal forums.
By default, spiders are in the guest group. Did you change that to another group?
Posting a link to your forums would make this much easier. Wink
