Is it possible to add a size restriction (in kb) to the Avatar URL?

I've only just noticed that only the dimension restriction applies to it.
It's easy to add width=x height=y to the image tag that includes the external image, but to determine the actual size (be it file size or dimensions) the image has to be downloaded to check... and even if you do that, nothing prevents the owner of the third party site to replace that image with something else entirely... you can have a 1kb file at the time MyBB checks it but for anybody else it could download an 1MB gif animation (someone here had that recently - Mr Bean face).

Long story short, there's no fool proof way of doing it, if users have too large avatars you'll have to moderate them.

If you want to be in full control of avatar sizes, they have to be stored on your own server, i.e. you have to disable external URLs as avatars so users will be forced to upload them to you.

However if you do that it doesn't help with images in postings or signatures... same problem there really. But that's what moderators and board admins are there for...
Ok, thanks for the verification mate.
