hi on my forums it says Forums/portal...

when you click the forum button it takes you to my portal page...

when my members read a thread and click forum...it takes em back to the portal page...

my members are getting annoyed...i was wondering if its possible to make it go to forums.php not index.php?

It's probably happening because you've renamed index.php to forums.php and portal.php to index.php, that isn't how standard MyBB is, we can't really help with something that you've changed, you're using it in another way to how it was designed.

It can be done with template and/or file edits actually. If by 'forum button' you mean the logo at the top of the page, you can edit the link that it loads in the header template, but if you mean something else, I can't check right now what would need changing.
