MyBB Community Forums

I have noticed that these free forums are not distributed under any open source license. Neither are they being sold. I have chosen MyBB as one of the candidates for my new forum but I am unsure about its future.

How can I be sure that all updates from now on will still be free?
If this software were licensed under the GPL or BSD then it's continued developement would be assured no matter what happens to the original author(s).

Not that I have a problem with paying for software that has professional support but I want to know where I am at with MyBB. So will you be going Open source or will you be going commercial?

As far as we all know, MyBB is staying free forever.

Well, I have to say that that didn't really answer the question.

Will MyBB be released under any of the many licenses approved by the Open Source Initiative?

As the original poster, I'm considering MyBB, but I will look elsewhere if it's not Open Source.
