I have a couple Netgear NAS boxes, and wanted to host a Forum on one of them. Asked in their forums if someone could do an add on to install myBB, and they made one using the latest version 1.4.8, which was great.

See http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic....48&t=30764
and http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic....61&t=30757

installed fine, works great on my local lan. but when i try to get to it from the internet, it loads VERY slow, and never quite finishes

my address is 67.169.65.187/mybb and http/port 80 is forwarded to 192.168.1.12 which is where mybb is installed

some other symptoms; from the internet, the admin page (/mybb/admin) works, BUT requires you to enter your login information every time you switch pages. This does not happen if you access it from the lan.
also, if i use the ip address from the lan, it exhibits the same login issue; it does not if i use the local 192.168.1.12 address.

i have done just about everything i can think of re port forwarding etc., but everything else i put on the site worked, so im not sure what im missing here.

any help or suggestions to debug are appreciated.

The login issue can be solved with this: http://community.mybboard.net/thread-42123.html

Probably because you're using a different URL/IP for the LAN and internet.

ok, that solved the login issue Smile the automatic setup program decided the local/lan address should be used instead of the external url address. So now the Admin menu works fine from external the lan.

but, the pages themselves still dont work correctly. they load, sorta, very slowly, with lots of broken stuff.

markg.dyndns.org/mybb or 67.169.65.187/mybb is the url, im using the latest version

any ideas? im new at this and am not sure what to even look for.
and if u need an account let me know, i can set up either general access or admin; just not sure it will help when you cant even fully load the base webpage/forums

thanks,

mark
I probably would say something else other then mybb is not set up properly.

im not sure what that means....

the admin panel works fine now, and the forums sorta load, just without any of the icons etc.
i suspect it isnt set up right, but what do i look for?

Meaning sounds like something with the server is not setup properly because I can't get the site to load.

ok, got most of it working; another configuration issue because its behind a firewall on a lan (mybb configuration that is).

so the next issue; now i can use the admin page, and users can get into the bbs/forums, and register, but they dont get the email.

im sure this is another configuration issue, but, and suggestions what to do here? making progress!!

ok, i tried the php email test script mentioned in the debugging php email wiki, and it doesnt send the email. so at least i know the issue is not with mybb.

but the box its on is my own, and there is nothing intentionally restricted. any suggestions as to what to do here?
Email might not be working because your internet provider could be blocking the port used for sending email. I think it is port 25.
