I had a request for this in another thread, probably one of the fastest plugins I have ever put together.

Simple plugin, shows users browsing a particular thread, replicates the users browsing forum feature.
I've confirmed this to work with 1.4.8 but it should work with 1.4.x

DESCRIPTION:
Users Browsing Thread is a simple plugin that shows you the users and guests browsing the particular thread you are viewing. It replicates the behaviour of the Users Viewing Forum when viewing a forum. It also depends on the settings you set for users viewing forum, if that is disabled, this disables too.

FEATURES:
- Shows Users, guests viewing current thread
- Simple, lightweight and straight forward.

INSTALL:
- Unzip/Unrar, upload inc/plugins/usersbrowsingthread.php and inc/languages/english/usersbrowsingthread.lang.php to the respective directories on the server
- Activate the plugin from the Admin Panel, Plugins section

UNINSTALL:
- Deactivate from the plugins page

Looks like i'll be swiping out the one i have for this. One i had doesnt show guests.

What version of MyBB are you running?
The only thing I can think of it not working is if you are using a template thats not compatible. In that case, check your Show Thread Templates>showthread
There should be an entry for {$usersbrowsing} after {$header}. If its not there, manually add {$usersbrowsing} placing it where you want to display the Users Browsing info.
EDIT: Also make sure you've uploaded both the plugin file and the language file.
