I really don't know if I am posting this in the right section... If not, please move it, just don't ban me, lol... I like this site too much.

Ok, I am an Admin on GeekStep.com... a few months ago one of our other admins got this idea to make a new host... that only offered for forum hosting... No P2H, etc. So, we came up with www.geekboards.net , which is a multi forum host. MyBB is the centerpiece, being that it is the most easily customized out of all the hosting we offer.

There is nothing perfect about any host, so we have a section of our forums where you can request that we add plugins and/or templates to our current base installation... or we can install a template for your site in particular. It's up to you!

Our goal is to be the best free forum host, offering the most customization of any host before us. But, we are new, and there are bugs... so, if you do try out our service, and find a bug PLEASE, report it at: http://bugs.geekboards.net .

We are working very hard on this, I am specializing in the MyBB section, and I thought you guys would want to know about this. Please give us any feedback you might have... Constructive criticism is always welcome by GeekStep in the past, and will be welcome by GeekBoards in the here and now.

Also, this is entirely separate from GeekStep. We have GeekBoards on its own server, which is backed up daily to a VPS hosted at another datacenter. In short, we have dedicated bandwidth that does not infringe on GS, or vice versa.

I recomend Geekboards, they are good.

Looks alright, but some of the text in the dropdown menu's don't show properly...

Yeah, some people, especially those with smaller screens, seem to have issues with seeing the text. We're not really sure why, it's basic HTML/PHP... We're working on a way to fix it up!

No, you do not get FTP access.

As with any free forum hosting, there are certain limitations to what you can do. If you want FTP access, then you have to just host your own site.

But, like I said, we will gladly install any mods, or themes for you, so it's not a big deal.

What about SQL and file backups

Wait doesn't mybb do that? What about for the IPB SMF and PHPBB sides?

@T0m: Yes, mybb offers that option. However, we also make full site backups daily... this removes the risk of having data loss of more they 24 hours in the event of a full server crash (pretty unlikely). The database's, as well as the actual files are both updated and sent via FTP to another server.
