You will have to use DennisTT's mod (
http://mods.mybboard.net/view/default-profile) then choose threaded mode for new registrations.
To do this with current users run this query:
UPDATE `mybb_users` SET `threadmode` = threaded

I downloaded DenissTT's file and hope to upload it into myBB. Where to to start upload? I did not see that from Configuration->Plugings.
