Does anyone now how to change the name of the portal to home or something

You can change the name by editing the language file; portal.lang.php. This can be done in your AdminCP --> Configuration --> Languages then choose portal.lang.php. The value you want to change would be nav_portal. Just change that to home and you should be done.
