How do I change
{$nav}{$activesep}{$activebit}
so that the default home is changed to forum.php instead of index.php?
I set index.php to the portal and the forum home to forum.php

The code you displayed just displays navigation through the site, such as "MyBB Community Forums / MyBB 1.4 Series / MyBB 1.4 General Support / Changing Nav " that you see at the top of the page.

Didn't really understand your problem, but when I do it might come handy (lol).
Uhmm the bread crumbs home link is defaulted to index.php..
I wanted to change it to forum.php since it's the forum and portal.php was changed to index.php so everytime someone clicks on the first link of nav it sends them to the portal rather than the forum index.. sorry my english aint that good
