I searched this error and replaced both the inc/functions.php and admin/inc/functions.php with the original copies (although they hadn't changed) and I still receive this error upon trying to activate certain plugins which I downloaded from the myBB modifications website.

What am I doing wrong?

It'll be an error with one of those plugins then, what ones are you trying to use??

I have installed over 20+ plugins, so do you think it would be worthwhile uninstalling and seeing which one causes the error to go, if at all?

Well, you said it happens when you're activating one, which one is it??
