I have waited a year past when SMF 2.0 was supposed to be finished. I decided not to wait forever. I chose to look around to reevaluate the current status of message board software. MyBB looks very strong and closer to my needs. I have previously used PhpBB (bloated, spam-magnet) and PunBB (too basic with slow version updates).

For my own use, I decided to sample the "look" of a few MyBB active forums. I made a framed page to make it easy to get a quick visual comparison. I was not looking for content, just appearance. I plan to add five more myBB forum links (suggestions?) that are different from those included.

BTW, I would not recommend the link above with any browser except Firefox 3.X since Internet Explorer does not play well with frames. (Unfortunately, CSS/PHP can't handle "mixed-domain" pseudo-frames.)

..and mine, if I'm still on time. Toungue
You can find some different boards at AmazingBoard . There are listed some of the best designed themes for MyBB Wink So it might be useful for your list.
Thanks for adding mine to the list and choosing as preview screen - I feel honored by that Smile
Some of those sites aren't so active; with only 14~ members online a day, or 21 members, etc.

That may be true, yet a few others have over 20,000 members.

I was not looking for content or high levels of activity, only a variety of MyBB sites with different appearance to see from which ones I might want to model mine. The biggest and most active forums are not always the ones that are most inspirational or the ones that interest me aesthetically.

Your MybbAddons.com site looks good in a frame. That's why I chose it for the preview. For my site, I probably would not choose a dark theme since my planned http://lasvalley.com/mixx forums will need to appeal to a wide variety of local Las Vegas groups.
Wait, so basically you want to copy designs?

Copy no, adapt, be inspired and then synthesize from a combination of elements, yes.
