Make sure you have only added one MyBB variable for the mod i'm guessing so it might not be the case.

You most likely have 3 pm variables. Check your welcomeblock templates. You should have multiple new pm variables, which is causing this.

Ups, I said welcomeblock? Sorry, was inducing you to a wrong template. But anyway, just go to your theme's templates>Header Templates>header
Then in that template there should be some kind of {$newpm} variable or something, I don't know how it's written. And probably you have it like 3 times.
