On my board, we make topics for every new product release and we put the item number at the front of the name. You used to be able to look these up, but lately search isn't co-operating.

Do you know if this started happening after an upgrade, or just suddenly started??

Unfortunately I do not know when it started ... I don't believe I have any plugins that affect search, so I doubt it is that.

This doesn't work on my site either if I use a similar name of a thread.
I'll download an older version of MyBB and test it on local.
EDIT: This works fine in 1.4.7.

I reported it and it is here now
I'll leave it to someone who knows what they're doing to find out what went wrong.
I get the feeling it has something to do with the dash.
Turn off MySQL fulltext searching and your issue will be fixed. I don't believe this is a bug with MyBB no less then it is simply a cognitive feature of the MySQL search engine
