I asked for help on mybbsource where the plugin is:

but no replies from plugin author yet, so I'm seeing if maybe someone here can help because I think the issue is a mybb config/server config issue, but I may be wrong....
I help manage a forum that is hosted by a forum member on a box he rents at a colo.
anyhow, in the MyGallery plugin, you can choose to upload photos from your PC or a URL...When trying to upload photos from the PC, it just simply doesn't work, but works just fine if we upload the files from a URL. The pictures folder, which is where the uploaded files get stored, I supposed, is chmod to 777.

I have a test forum setup on my web hosting that is hosted through hostmonster and the uploading from the pc/url both work fine.
I'm on the latest release of mybb...any ideas? I'm really stumped on this 1.
