Where do I go about to like put what I want for my description when people google my site it would have that little description and my link near the top?
If you want a meta description on the index page, edit the index template and put it in the <head> there. Same for portal. For descriptions in general (e.g. threads), you need to use a plugin, for example Google SEO.
