Would it be possible to modify the memberlist.php or the navigation link so that it shows only a list of people in a certain group?

Thats already their under "Forum Team" near the bottom of your index page.
This will display all your members in the groups they are in.
To display only 1 group a the time in a navigation drop down could be done, but i can't help you with that. Sorry
