I am getting complaints from my members that don't like the fact that every PM sent keeps all the last info quoted.
The PM just keeps getting bigger and bigger when sending back and forth.
I know, .. hehe .. i just delete the quoted stuff above, but they want it gone so it's not a pain they say.

I don't see a global setting on removing this, so i assume i need the edit the Private Messaging Templates?

Can someone please tell me what and where to edit?

Thanks Smile
Why not just tell them to do Ctrl + A, and Backspace or Delete? It would be better. If you need to, it can be done, but i'm not sure if its a core edit?
Hi Tom, yes.. i already said that to many of them.
They consider it a pain and think it should not be their without having selected it in the first place.
After some thinking.. i do agree with them on that one. Should be selected by the user before doing a quote.

Can you help me ?

Thanks Smile
I cannot, i don't know that much php, and it would be a good thing as a default option, (Thats another argument though)

Sorry you will have to wait a little.
ok Tom, thanks for the effort. I will wait till someone else can help me Smile
I know there will be many others wanting this, so helping me will also give them that option when they search for this fix.
I think this has come up before, and I don't think it's possible, at least not without a plugin or file edit. Here's the postbit_reply_pm template:

<a href="private.php?action=send&amp;pmid={$id}&amp;do=reply"><img src="{$theme['imglangdir']}/pm_reply.gif" alt="{$lang->reply}" title="{$lang->reply_title}" /></a>

The reason it quotes is because of this bit - &amp;pmid={$id} - this is what gets the information from the PM you're replying to... however, this also loads the subject and the recipient, so if you remove this bit of code, when you click the button, there won't be any quoted text, no, but there'll also be no recipient and no subject, as this bit of code loads all that, so it'd be link a new PM.
Wow, sounds like it all need to be rewritten then. integrated to much with the other things.
Maybe someone will make a plugin for this one day. I know it will be wanted by others.

Thanks Matt.. you're always helpful Smile

PS:
If you can do the security patches for our 1.4.4 board, send me a PM.
I will pay you up front for your time Wink
