There is no option to prevent visitors to see the threads. I want them to see the headlines on forum index but don't want them to read the post in the threads.
Is there any way to do this

The following procedure will hide the thread list and posts from being viewed. But unregistered users can still view the forum from index.php and the last post. I think this is as close as you can get to what you want, or else you need extra modifications.:
Admin CP --> Manage Forums --> Click on Permissions at the right of the forum (this should take you to the quick permissions page). For the Unregistered usergroup, uncheck the "View" permission. You have to do this for all the forums.
Then go into Admin CP --> Board Settings --> Change --> Forum Home Options, and find the "Hide Private Forums?" option and make the setting to 'No'.
