I'm fairly new too, but what I do is go to phpMyAdmin. There are two panels altogether in the whole webpage. What you should be looking at is the left one, which is the smaller (narrower, actually) of the two.
There is a row just underneath the phpMyAdmin logo, which contains 5 buttons. Click on the SQL icon (3rd button from the left; not the speech bubble) and a pop up will appear. Simply copy/paste your query into the text field and click Go and you are done.
