I have been a fan of http://www.000webhost.com/ in the past, don't know if they are still good but I had very little to complain about when I used them last.

By and large though I would recommend going with cheap shared hosting as it doesn't cost much, you can run many sites from one hosting account and the company has a level of accountability for their service so overall you will probably have a much better experience.

I also suggest you take a look at this thread as it has quite a list of hosts of various types http://community.mybboard.net/thread-30827.html

I hate that hosting..
It says " the board administrator will setup the activation email in 24 hours"
Then after 1 week.
still no email..

There's been a lot of threads in the support forum from users on 000webhost saying their board can't connect to MySQL, apparently they shutdown the servers a lot for maintenance but don't tell anyone when... or so I hear, never used them myself so can't say for certain.

Yeah I have to recommend this one as they installed redmine for me within minutes of my hosting being approved.

Hmm, I thought as much, a good free host that doesn't force ads doest tend to stay on top of the ball for long... I suspected that they had probably gone downhill by now.
