But actually the buttons wouldn't have any use imho, since you don't need any mycode to insert.
for example you don't have to write someting like:
[flv]http://www.domain.com/flashfile.flv[/flv]
Just write the plain URL in the post without any mycode tags and the plugin will generate the tags by itself.
nevermind it was cause i had the html enabled and this was another mod i was using so i disbaled this other mod and now its all working great....! What is curl needed for ? i know thtas a stupid question ( its enabled curl ) just wanted to know what curl was needed for, thanks!

Sorry, I didn't notice you had edited your post.
On some video sites the URL doesn't contain the video id you need for embedding, so the plugin has to search for the correct id in the source code of the video site. Therefore it uses curl.
I hope this makes any sense despite my bad English.

Ok I try an example.
Some video sites only have urls like:
http://www.videosite.com/funnyclip/
But for embedding the same video from the site above you need something like:
http://www.videosite.com/funnyclip?id=123456
Therefore the plugin has to search in this case for the "123456" somewhere in the source code of the site (and using curl for it)
So the video will be embedded if you just post the first url.
I really love this plugin!
but..
It adds 2 queries for every post in a thread (even if there is no video at all) just to check what setting the user has. I try to keep the amount of queries a low as possible on my site and i think 50-60 queries is too much.
So i disabled the check. Of course the profilefield to allow users to switch it on/off doesn't work, so i removed that as well.
It would be nice to see this on/off work without so many extra queries. Can't seem to get it to work though.
You're right, thats why I've rewritten the whole on/off profilefield setting thing in user cp completely and I'm testing it now. If all works well version 1.1.4 won't use any extra queries at all in threads (knock on wood)
I've just uploaded a new version to the mod section and it's awaiting validation.
v1.1.4 comes with new settings for usergroups, forums and adult site videos, more supported video sites, [amoff] mycode to disable embedding for single links...

To update to v1.1.4,
deactivate AND deinstall the plugin
BEFORE uploading the new files.

You should think about doing one for pictures from external hosts (example photobucket etc)
