Okay, I just converted from vB to MyBB. My staff forums are visable, at the bottom of the forum:

(Look at bottom)

I've checked the permissions, only admins/super mods/mods should be able to view the forum, but everyone can see the actual forums (not view inside them though).

How can I fix this?
Hmm Odd. It should work. If you really need to hide it, set it to URL only.
In the permissions, and under the Groups name, is a check box displaying, "Use Group Default" Make sure that is unchecked, or the settings will revert back to the Category/forum settings.

Speaking of Categories, if you have the staff chat under a category, make sure to do the same to the category permissions.
If you continue to have problems blh654 PM me, and i will resolve the problem for you.
Make sure "Use Group Default" isn't checked in the forum permissions.

Yep, they weren't checked, but it still doesn't work.
Can you printscreen the permissions settings, and also what's showing when you click Edit Permissions or Set Permissions??
Okay, I just realized that for the guest and member settings, they revert back to different settings then what I save them as - when I go to "Edit Permissions".

For the last two, I tried to uncheck everything, but as said above, they just revert back to what you see there, in the last two pictures.

Could you register and then I'll give you admin to look at this?
Nevermind, fixed it using Dennis T's option in this thread:
