Why do plugins that were previously accepted take so long to get validated when updated?
lol . I have 4 plugins in moderation queue. Though my site is currently switched OFF yet atleast plugins to get approved here Rolleyes

I get the message patience please, so I will forward to you also. Patience please Toungue
That doesn't answer my question though.
Because once its a known good plugin, it would be easy to add some harmful code.
Yes but wouldn't it also stand to reason that if harmful code is found that the patched version should be pushed through ASAP?
Then it wouldn't have been approved in the first place Toungue. He's saying they check everything again to make sure it doesn't just become like a virus or something since it's been trusted already it would be easy for some to take advantage of that trust.
I'm just curious, in an effort to just get it over with, do mods even check the plugin files that are submitted (sometimes or all the time)?
We do check what is being submitted.

Yes, we do check them over, and it isn't really a quick process, especially for bigger plugins. If we didn't check them, what would be the point of the approval/moderation process.

When people complain about the waiting they make it sound like we have nothing else to do with our time but approve mods within minutes of them being submitted. Zash, you made a thread after 9 hours of waiting, which is, to be honest, a bit unfair on us, especially when on the submissions page it says it can take 24 hours. Maybe we were at work, or sleeping?? 9 hours isn't very long at all, remember there are different timezones.

@KuJoe and ghazal, if you mean you submitted something to the Mods site, there was nothing there by either of you the last time I checked, which was about 9 hours ago.

My first 2 submissions to the Mods site were in the queue for over a week, and they were tiny and would have taken 30 seconds to check over, but I just accepted the staff were busy and left them to it.
Mine was waiting for validation for over 16 hours, which is a long time when users are waiting for a new version of an existing plugin. I understand there is a reason why everything must be manually validated but isn't there a way to set it up by usergroup to allow active users with over 1,000 posts and who have been active for over 1 year to bypass validation for updates to already validated plugins?
