Hi everybody,


In this thread we're gonna explain the UTF-8 problem of the MyBB merge system as asked by Tomm Moore, one of the developers of this system.

1st. Posts, PMs, threads, forums, etc. all turn into ??? ?? ? ? when converting a phpBB3 to MyBB.

DB collation: utf8_general_ci
phpBB3 DB: utf8_bin
MyBB DB: utf8_general_ci

Note: Disabling the "encode_to_utf8" function wasn't helpful.

2nd. During the MyBB installation, if you enter a UTF8 string, i.e. as the Website name, it'll send ASCII to the DB, as you can see in the attached screenshot. You can also try this yourself with this تام مور which's Tomm's name in Persian.


PLEASE fix these as soon as possible as a considerable number of Persian speaking chaps are eager beaver to switch to MyBB.

its not just about persian lang. its same for turkish too...

The problem is not only for Persian and Turkish, Bulgarian aswell.

still haven't found anyting in the old topics, any ideas guys?

With the final version i have converted Greek forum and works perfect
