You should fix so that when the page that want you to make dirs/files writable it tells exactly in which dir the files is in. At the moment it take years to find the file. Its easily done but helps alot.

It wouldn't receive any mail for my Hotmail accounts, that may be the problem you're having.
Do you have any other accounts? (not hotmail?)

It may have the same effect on Gmail. It worked on my old "ntlworld" account.
