is there any coding like if we get any private msg then it shows on main index page like pop up msg?

or like invision board.

There's a default feature to show a yellow banner across the top...

where it is?

i couldn't found.

It should be enabled by default... User CP > Edit Options > Messaging and Notification > Alert me with a notice when I receive a Private Message.

it is already tick marked Alert me with a notice when I receive a Private Message. but i still do not getting any yellow banner at top

OK, edit the header template for your theme, make sure {$pm_notice} is there.

while sending a private msg,there is a option at below like "Request Read Receipt: receive a message when this message is read"

what is the use of it?

It will send you notification that the message you send has been recieved and read by the recipient

This is handy in knowing that message you send are actually being read and not just deleted
