You should be able to make it without core edits.
well ive tried over and over again to get the plugin manager to edit a file and it says it can't so i just said hey if it isnt gonna work ill just ask the user to do it.

im pretty sure one of them could. the file is actually right at the surface of the system its just that when i try to edit the file via plugin manager i get a error that i have tried to fix like 500,000 times and i always get the same error

If you are changing core files that is not a prefered method. Is there a hook you can use to make the modification to the content or variable you need to update

As long as you chmod the file you want to edit, you should be able to edit it
