Well, I read the above posting guideline on what to have in this post, and this is all I can come up with.

I am not new to forums, especially that of phpBB, and MyBB. But.. I have always been the "Public Admin". I was never the admin to set a forum up from scrath. Now, I want to try to start on my own forum, and see how it goes on my own home server.

Currently I have donwloaded this-

MyBB 1.4.9
http://www.mybboard.net/downloads

and

MyBB 1.4 Merge BETA
[For mergin my existing SQL from a phpBB board]
http://www.mybboard.net/downloads/merge-system

To set up my own home server, I have downloaded this -
Wamp Server 2.0i
http://www.wampserver.com/en/download.php

Now, I am new to setting up forum software on my home server, can anyone please tell me how to do the rest from here? Or maybe point me to a very well detailed tutorial online on how to start with the softwares I currently have?

I really want to setup my own forum software on my home server via WAMP Server, and soon go to a VPS. The problem is I do not know where to get started, so any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!

here is a screen shot of where i got so far, because I am such a n00b Toungue

Instead of Wam, use Xampp.
Once you have installed Xampp, the rest are pretty much simple.
Put the uncompressed folder of the forum into "htdocs"
In xampp, go to localhost/phpmyadmin and setup a database to be used with the forum.
run the forum installation.
That is it? Undecided

It seemed so much harder. So may you please explain it a little more "n00bish' for me, I am going to DL xamp right now.

If you're planning on running a live site from WAMP/XAMPP it isn't recommended. You'd be better off finding a temporary free host.

These should get you started:

Oh yeah, like what Matt said, find a free host if you want to finally host your site live. If it just for testing, XAMPP should be enough.
