but how do i add it to the main page i am using the default theme

what template to i need to edit to have the button show up on main page

can not find the index templete m8 do you mean index.php?

No, the index template. ACP > Templates & Style > Templates > **expand your template set** > Index Page Templates > index.

Admin CP>>Templates & Style>>Templates>>**expand your themes templates**>>Index Templates>>index

Depends where you want it...?? You should be able to see the general structure of the page in there, put it where you want it to show...
