In reality no ones birth date should change so for integrity purposes I propose that Admins have the option to disable users ability to change their birth date themselves.

I don't believe this is currently a feature but please notify me if it is.
What if they make a mistake or lie/
This is kind of a stupid idea...
I think it's quite a good one.
Seconded, just makes sense! XD

Sure, if you can somehow verify the user has entered the correct info, which would then defeat the purpose of the field..
My target with this is for forums where a specific age limit is enforced.

Unlikely and if so they can PM an admin and they won't mind changing it.

If they do then they won't be able to correct it when they do become of age without exposing themselves to an Admin which is IMO a good idea.

Why does that matter? You assume them to stand by their "lie" if they do such.

I am pretty sure you can't change your age on sites like facebook and myspace.
If people know about an age restriction, most of the time they'll lie anyways :/
Exactly, so I don't see why they need to be given the option to change their age because of that.

There isn't a whole lot of reason apart from maintaining logical integrity of the data so I think it's worth it.
They can just lie on registration :|
