Meh I tried programming books several times but they never work for me. The best way for me is to just look at the code and play with it .

I do both. I find a mixture works best. Of course, I learned most of what I know about C from programming a MUD based on CircleMud 3.1. With no prior experience with anything but GWBasic, Apple IIe Basic, QBasic, and MS Visual Basic 5. Quite the shift, and I loved it
