I remember way back when MyBB mods was its own website, I posted a request about a promotion system. That post is long gone, so I'm reposting it.
Anyway, what I mean by a promotion system is, lets say I have two user groups, Member and Advance member. While a Member can edit his own post, a Advance member could edit and delete his own post. The way a Member becomes an Advance member is by getting a curtain amount of post.
So basically, could a plug-in be made that would allow people to move to a different user group once they meet a set requirement of post or other values? This is about the only thing keeping me from fully using MyBB.
Thanks.
I had once suggested a system whereby a member is automaticaly promoted to a certain group by acquiring a set mark of reputation. I think some proceedure is already in place which takes you from Member to Senior member. This is user title but this could also be used to give some users some certain titles. But anyway, your suggestion is nice. Hope someone jumps in

I like that idea as well. For instance current "promotion" is based solely on the number (quantity) while the quality is not rewarded. Granted! There is a reputation system, but it would be nice if people with certain level of reputation could get "upgraded" as well.
Of course it is wishful thinking because it might require certain changes in codes etc, but I would find this option a good one for my site.
I am also finding the way "reputation" is presented a little bit blunt. Did anyone came out with some other type of "graphs" to represent this function?
Would appreciate comment on this one.

I remember this. I think I realised your suggestion for RC4, but it wasn't downloaded enough to update to 1.0x and was only changing the usertitles. It was through the member rating via profile, but I think it would have been better if I had used the reputation system.
I might create one which changes the usergroups if you get a certain amount of post or reputation.
But the problem with the reputation is that it can be diminished by other users. What if a user gets a certain reputation and becomes part of a new usergroup. And a little bit later, the user gets -X reputation, so he is below the required amount of reputation for his usergroup. Will he then fall back to his previous usergroup?

I created an alternative reputation system, which makes the reputations show as numbers instead of those bars. Maybe you like it and if you don't, just remove it again. It's a plugin, so it won't be of any problem. If you're interested, you can find it here:

Yes! After I posted this message I went and did some digging and found your plugin, installed it. Works charms, so thank you very much for making that one available.
What I need is to be able to edit the reputation. For instance I changed how strong reputation can be given by certain usergroup, but unfortunately in some cases reputations were given. For instance Admin could give 5 but I have changed it to let's say 10. It would be unfair that admin now have 10 points to grant but previously could only give 5 (I know they could do it repeatedly, but this is just for sake of discussion). Also, it would be nice to EDIT not just DELETE reputation.
I believe somebody mentioned how to edit reputation, but I don't recall where was it. Do you by any chance have that info handy?
Thank a lot!
