i have an intranet site at work that will need to be accessed from the internet outside of the network.
for some reason, when i connect to the network via VPN, all of the HTML shows on the forum as it is supposed to, perfect
however, when i browse to the site from off the network (disconnected from VPN), it looks like this, without any HTML, just plain text
it only does this with the forum part of the site. the rest of the intranet works fine and displays fine
Internet Explorer says "Done, but with errors" here are the errors copied in clipboard
Webpage error details
User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; InfoPath.2)

this ONLY happens when i am outside of the network. when i am inside of the network browsing the forums, everything is perfect.
i would feel more comfortable PMing a support guy with the link, as i don't want everyone on the forum knowing our internal links
i would much rather PM a support guy with the link, as i don't want everyone on mybboard forums knowing our intranet site. i don't have permissions set up just yet, so its set to anonymous
I have a feeling it's because of this
in order for me to access the site OUTSIDE of the network, i have to type the hostname.domainname where as when i'm connected to the network, i just have to type in the hostname alone
it seems like the settings is only set for its hostname, or localhost, so when i try to access it from the internet, it's looking for just the hostname in some settings, which it can't find because it needs the domain name
how do i fix this??
GOT IT WORKING
Anyone else who has a computer on a domain and can't view the forum properly from outside of the network, check your general settings. change the "board url" from its "hostname/forums" to "hostname.domain/forums"
so if your domain name is "lsu.edu" and in the board url you just have 'hostname/forums', change it to 'hostname.lsu.edu/forums"
WORK, woot!! I love mybb
