Recently I've been hearing a lotta people in the school halls using the phrase "that's legit". I think it's another way of saying "that's cool", but I'm not sure.

Today, we were doing some art work for English, and a dude in the class said "Dude that's legit, you can sharpen the pencil by peeling the paper off".

By definition, legit, or legitimate means genuine. How did we get from genuine, to whatever the hell it means now?

wow I'm so glad I graduated this year!!! Class of 10 is weird.

Everyone says legit At my school we started saying that last year, I must say legit is a legit word .

Is this an American thing? I've never heard anyone in England say that.

Really? I've never heard anyone use it as a replacement for cool. I'm mean I've heard it's legit . Not even my parents have said this .
