I know that a new theme is being developed for MyBB 2.0 but since it is such a long way till 2.0 I propose that the devs should do some cosmetic changes to the default theme for 1.6. The default theme from my point of view is pretty ugly and too boxy. It contains too many tables.

There will be no major changes to the default theme in MyBB 1.6.
Yeah i know but those are not so "major" but its your decision and i respect that
We're hoping themes (and plugins for that matter) will need minimal changes to be 1.6 compatible, I'd imagine this change would be a bigger change than the other things that will be necessary.
Not quite. I was proposing just some minor adjustments to the default theme in order to make it look better. Just my 0.02$
Redoing tables isn't exactly minor...

Any change to any of the templates requires ALL themes who have that template to update. It doesn't matter if it's minor or major.
