Alright, I read the page on merging using the MyBB merging tool but I just want to get one thing straight. I have a MyBB 1.4.9 forum and a friend of mine is running a SMF 1.1.10 forum. Can I merge his forum with mine to create one big board?

yes, the merge system is adding the new data. if usernames are double they will be renamed to username_(boardtype)

Yeah, that's why it's called the Merge System as opposed to just the Conversion System, it can merge any amount of supported forums into one forum.
