Hi.. i have a question.. how i add "things" to the portal?

For example.. i want to add a middle column for news from a spicific forum.. and then a right column for "boxes" to add partners and links..

well.. i tried to search the forum to find information or documentation but i had no luck.. i just found this http://mods.mybboard.com/tutorials.php?tid=7

ok.. now is working the news stuff..

my question now.. how i add a new costum column..?

and then.. how i get several post from DIFFERENTs forum to use in the news? I found a toturial, but i think is for another version of the forum..
