Then I suspect that maybe some of the files were not uploaded properly during the upgrade. It happens as some ftp clients are known to drop files during the transfer. Anyway, try to overwite your forum files with a fresh set from the mybb 1.4.10 package minus the install folder and the settings.php and the config.inc files in the inc directory and see if that would solve the problem.

P.s. This issue happened right after the upgrade without you doing any modifications to the forum?
